Q: What is a D&D Dog?
-
A: A D&D Dog is a virtual pet dog created within the Second Life virtual world by two Second Life residents, Driftwood Nomad and Darrly Chang. These dogs follow their owners and can learn a number of tricks. There are over a dozen breeds to choose from (with more to come).

Q: Pets? Avatars? What's the difference?
-
A: Pet dogs are objects that are scripted to follow you around and do tricks. Avatars are more like costumes that you wear in Second Life that turns YOU into a dog. As a dog avatar, you walk on all fours and can perform tricks and animations yourself.

Q: What or who is Darwood?
-
A: Darwood is D&D's very first commercial dog. His name is a combination of "Darrly" and "Driftwood". He is our only non full breed dog (mutt). He holds a special place in our hearts, and we honor his vision with Darwood Fountain on the Island of Pawaii. His uniquely styled breed continues to be sold to this day, and no full breed can ever quite charm as much as the crooked tongue-filled smile of this little companion.

Q: Can you make cats? (or horses, or dolphins, or ...)
-
A: Currently, D&D Dogs is focused on doing what it does best...making dogs. We're not saying we will never make other animals, but right now there are no immediate plans to do so.

Q: Can you make me a Chow? (or Shi-Tzu, or Pomeranian, or ...)
-
A: Please fill out a request. We add all breed requests to a database, and will eventually get to them. However, we are only two guys with real life jobs, and time is limited. Don't expect too fast a turnaround.

Q: What if I pay you extra? Can you make my Fluffy?
-
A: We have been known to do custom unique orders. These require you to send us pictures of what you want, and we will create a fully trained virtual version of your requested dog. However, this costs significantly more that our public dogs, but you will receive a totally unique dog that we will not resell to anyone else. Please note that we do reserve the right to resell the same *breed* of dog as your custom, but it will look different than your unique version. If you are interested in a custom unique dog, please contact us.

Q: I made my own dog in SL. Can I buy your scripts and add them to my dog?
-
A: We do not sell our scripts seperately. We do this to ensure that a D&D Dog is always a D&D Dog. That way, our customers always know what they are getting.

Q: What permissions are the dogs?
-
A: All D&D pet dogs are Modify/Transfer/No Copy. All D&D dog avatars are Modify/No Transfer/Copy.

Q: My dog disappeared! Can I get a replacement?
-
A: From time to time, it is known that objects (especially moving, physical objects) can tend to get lost in Second Life. We keep records of everyone who has purchased a dog. If you have lost a dog, let us know and we will first try to help you find it. If it truly is gone, we will replace it for you.

Q: My dog doesn't guard or attack all the time. What's wrong?
-
A: There seems to be an issue right now with using the llMoveToTarget LSL function that drives the guard, attack, and find scripts. It seems to work sporadically. We are looking in to potential fixes.

Q: My pet dog's legs don't move when he walks. What's wrong?
-
A: There is nothing wrong. The pet dogs currently do not have animated parts. When they follow you, the simply glide over the ground. We will hopefully build animated pet dogs in the future, but it is infinitely more complex than the non-animated ones we sell now. Also, keep in mind that our dog AVATARS are animated. This is because the avatars are costumes worn on your own body, so it's a lot easier to animate an avatar than an object.

Q: My dog doesn't do anything. He just sits there. Is he broken?
-
A: There are times when a scripted object can "die". What this means is that the scripts within the object have stopped responding. There are a few things you can try to wake up your dog.
- The first thing to try is to say "reset" to your dog.
- If reset fails, try right clicking your dog and select EDIT. Then at the top of your screen select TOOLS, then SET SCRIPTS TO RUNNING IN SELECTION.
- If the above doesn't wake him up, try doing the same thing, except select RECOMPILE SCRIPTS IN SELECTION as the last step.
- If this still doesn't work, please contact us.

Q: My dog is stuck in the ground (or behind something, or under something ...)
-
A: Dogs can sometimes get lodged in the ground or stuck under other objects. Try saying "reset" to your dog. That usually gets him loose. If that fails, say "unstick", which is a more severe form of reset. This should shake him up out of whatever he is under.

Q: I have a dog avatar with all the tricks, but the HUD doesn't display the tricks I know.
-
A: While wearing the avatar and the HUD, say "/100 reset", then wait a minute. The avatar's scripts will reset themselves and cause the HUD to reset as well. You may have to remove the HUD and put it back on after this to get all the tricks to show up. This is a known bug that will hopefully be fixed soon.
